THE BALTIC INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY (BIA) (founded in 1992) is the largest private higher education institute in the Baltic States and Northern Europe. Currently, 8000 students are studying here, including 860 international students from 20 countries. The BIA has impressive premises and well-equipped facilities.

In the course of training the BIA realizes accredited programs and in the year 2000 received a full life-long state accreditation with the right to award diplomas of the state standard. In training the BIA implements 17 accredited and licensed programs of higher professional education of the 1st and 2nd level and professional master programs as well as academic bachelor and master programs.

The study process is realized in compliance with the program “Eurolingua” in the Russian, Latvian and English streams. The departments of Baltic International Academy are situated in the largest cities and towns of Latvia.

Baltic International Academy expresses its interest in Erasmus MUNDUS and TEMPUS IV and would like to participate as a partner in projects that focus the following:

• Modernisation of curricula in academic disciplines identified as priorities by the Partner Countries, using the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), the three cycle system and the recognition of degrees;

• University management and services for students;

• Introduction of quality assurance;

• Development of international relations;

• Training of non-university teachers;

• Knowledge triangle education-research-innovation;

• Development of lifelong learning in society at large;

• Qualifications frameworks.
